Telephone Wiring Faults

NTE5 Master Socket test port

Thankfully it doesn't happen often, but sometimes our telephone lines do suffer the effects of technical, physical or environmental related difficulties, the result of which may  mean that we cannot fully enjoy the use of our telephone line based services, such as broadband internet connections. Establishing that there is a fault and its origin can often be vital to obtaining a speedy repair solution from your service provider.

However it is not uncommon for customers to report a fault on their line only to be told that there is no fault and that any problems are with customer side equipment or wiring. Whilst his may often be true, sometimes mistakes are made so it is best that you establish definitively that there is no fault with your equipment or internal wiring before reporting a fault to your telephone service provider.

Once you or your independent technical service have established that there is a fault & that the fault originates from external wiring or equipment, you should contact your service provider to request a call out, knowing that you will not be liable for any call out fee. (Note should you have to pay your service provider a call out fee, this will generally be added to your quarterly bill)

Providing the fault lies on the service supply side & has not been caused by you, it is highly unlikely, that your phone company will charge you for the call out or repair. However should the fault be customer premises related there will be a charge. (Check with your phone company for current rates)

However if you live in the Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, Manchester or Rossendale aeras Burytec independent telephone engineer services  can do a comprehensive review of your internal / external telephone wiring & explain what your telephone company will require from you, in order not to charge for a call out, should one be required.

As a general rule the wiring that is on the streets or underground is of very high quality wire, therefore, the voice or data signal is almost always at full strength.

Unfortunately, if you have bad wiring inside your property, wiring routed near fluorescent lights, near sources of high amounts of electromagnetic radiation, or just bad quality wiring), you will lose some of the strength of the signal, thus decreasing your overall line quality in terms of your voice and data communications.

Some common faults would include short circuits, open circuit, intermittent connections, ground fault, leg A & B reversal, all of which could originate from the customer side or service provider side.

Burytec can correct or renew your internal wiring as required to help resume your service as soon as possible.
